Without Knowing It


The separation affected her too.

She realized gradually, that she wasn’t furniture that merely collected dust in the absence of an active household.

What felt clear, very flat before, lost itself in folds now.

There was always darkness on one side, and it would move to the peak and to another side, casting in shadow one part of another fold, and so on, from one unexpected hill to another.
