Since my first video series, Abbandonata, I find I have been drifting more and more into making work in a series format. This is probably related to my love of literature, and indeed writing seems to be finding a better way in to my work as time passes. Creating in a series format allows me more time to explore an idea, but also to keep each video within the series a separate and unique work which can stand on its own. Perhaps this style is more related to the Canto format than anything. Something to ponder as I explore…

ABBANDONATA (series)
ABBANDONATA is story about a woman whose companion goes on a trip, and after years away, still has not returned. It was inspired by the story of Penelope and Odysseus. I worked on Abbandonata from February 2013 through May 2015. Within this time period I created 10 video episodes, 45 “fragments,” details about the video episodes,…

Strange Sound (series)
This series is based on a short film I did in November of 2010. Its theme is the experience of that time just before waking, when you are in a dream state, but your senses are beginning to activate to perceive reality. Elements of previous films inform new films, linking all films together in more than just…

Rituals (series)
Like Strange Sound, the Rituals series derives its initial inspiration from a non-alert state. In this case, the initial inspiration was from an actual dream. Like previous series projects, this series developed organically. Video Chronology Rituals: Containment, Expulsion 5/2016 Rituals: Parry, Thrust 8/2016 Rituals: Exposure, Concealment 10/2016

Steps (series)
This series was my introductory foray into the horror genre. In Steps, the sequence of films are more clearly connected in a linear way, both via image and sound. There is a skeletal structure of a comprehensible story within. Video chronology Steps: One 2/2017 Steps: Two 4/2017 STEPS 7/2017

Each video began with a photo collage from that series. All episodes were screened at LACDA from 2018 through 2019. After the pandemic lockdown occurred in…
